Mrs. Emma Yorker
Mrs. Emma Yorker, Sandersville, Georgia passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 in Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Tanner officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Yorker was born on December 15, 1951 to the parentage of the late Mr. Curtis Reese, Sr., and the late Mrs. Louise Reese. She was the fifth of six siblings and was preceded in death by three siblings.
Emma graduated from T.J. Elder High School in 1970. She attended Albany State College, Albany, GA where she received her Bachelors Degree in education. She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education and worked there until her retirement in 2006.
She worked and served faithfully in any capacity while striving to do her best and deliver outstanding results. Mrs. Yorker was associated with numerous clubs and organizations including, but not limited to, serving as Secretary of Washington County Elderite Association and former President and Area Director of Georgia Retired Educators Association. She led a purpose driven life serving as Deaconess, Assistant Secretary and Coordinator of Programs at Jordan Grove Baptist Church and Coordinator of Vacation Bible School at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Emma was gifted with exceptional culinary skills, which made her home the perfect place for fellowship with family and friends. She was a dedicated Educator with many talents, including a passion for public speaking and being a natural born leader. Although an authoritarian., Emma was very gracious, loving and warm hearted. Her ideals, principles and ethics were above and beyond reproach.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Eddie Lee Yorker in 1978.
Mrs. Yorker is survived by her husband: Mr. Eddie Yorker, Sandersville, Georgia; two sons: Mr. Eric (Altomese) Jones, McDonough, Georgia, Mr. Edwin (Comise) Yorker, Sandersville, Georgia; two grandsons: Mr. Eric Jones, Jr., McDonough, Georgia, Mr. Elias Yorker, Sandersville, Georgia; one brother: Mr. David Reese, Sr., Brentwood, New York, two sisters: Ms. Lizzie Mae Clover, Mrs. Danny (William) Miller, Sandersville, Georgia; two devoted nieces: Ms. Kimberly Cuyler, Snellville, Georgia, Ms. Yvette Reese, Tucker, Georgia; devoted nephew: Mr. Derrick Miller, San Antonio, Texas; eight sisters-in-law: Mrs. Annie Cora (Eli) Atkinson, Mrs. Beverly (Ike) Johnson, Wrightsville, Georgia, Ms. Annie Bell Gibbons, Dublin, Georgia, Ms. Julia Gibbons, Ms. Ethel Yorker, Ms. Shirley Reese, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Mytris Yorker, West Palm Beach, Florida, Mrs. Helen (Charles) Russell, Delray Beach, Florida; five brothers-in-law: Mr. Ray (Louise) Yorker, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Buster (Betty) Yorker, Davisboro, Georgia, Mr. Sammie Yorker, Wrightsville, Georgia, Mr. Larry (Michelle) Yorker, West Palm Beach, Florida, Mr. Melvin Yorker, Tennille, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.
