Mr. Emory Smith, Sr.

Mr. Emory Smith, Sr., Sandersville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Green Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Perry Davis officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Always, a Georgia native, Pop was born and raised in Washington County. He was born to the parentage of the late Ms. Bertha Miller Smith and the late Mr. J.D. Gordon. He was raised by the late Mr. Eugene Smith, Sr. Emory was affectionately known by most as “Pop” and to others as “Cricket.” He retired from Washington County Machine Shop after several years of dedicated service.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Grace Smith and son Mr. Earl Jordan.

Mr. Smith is survived by four daughters: Ms. Pattie Anne Armstrong, Ms. Johnnie Mae Smith, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Shirley Mae Centeno, Tampa, Florida, Ms. Lawanda Yvette Foster, Atlanta, Georgia. One son: Mr. Emory Smith, Jr., Sandersville, Georgia. One sister: Ms. Annie Pearl Johnson, Sandersville, Georgia. Two brothers: Mr. Eugene Smith, Mr. William Miller, Sandersville, Georgia; several other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
