Evangelist Annie Gaston
Evangelist Annie Gaston, Sandersville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 in Louisville, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Camp Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Mitchell officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery.
She was educated by the Washington County School System. At an early age she began working in the fields, but she was determined to start a career elsewhere. Her career began in 1965 at Rawling Nursing Home, later Heritage Inn of Sandersville. She was passionate about cooking. In 1998 she was blessed to retire with thirty three years of service. Annie continued to prepare recipes that could not be duplicated by anyone in her family.
Ms. Annie joined Camp Spring Baptist Church at an early age. Her love for God lead her to ministering and joining Faith Temple Holiness Church. On September 2, 1984 she was ordained as Evangelist Annie Gaston. She loved to praise God through song. She was a part of several singing groups including Singing Angels and Holy Gospel Singers. She was known for singing “Moving By The Power,” which people loved to see her move by the power of God.
Evangelist Gaston was a member of the Missionary Society at Camp Spring Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting nursing homes, hospitals, and the sick and shut in. Annie loved to travel and enjoyed eating out with her sisters, church members and family.
Ms. Gaston was preceded in death by a son: Mr. Antonio Gaston; great grandson: Mr. Jah’Mere Gaston; three sisters: Mrs. Mattie Gonder, Ms. Eudine Sutton, Ms. Pearlie Lee Bowles; three brothers: Mr. Hardwick, Mr. Lonnie Lee, Mr. Hardy Mazes.
Evangelist Gaston is survived by three children: Mr. Willie (Janice) Gaston, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Ann Gaston, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mr. Ricky (Rhonda) Gaston, Glenside, Pennsylvania; five sisters: Ms. Myrtle Maze, Minister Johnnie Hunter, Ms. Lillie Pearl Walker, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Reba Cannida, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ms. Geraldine Maze, Trenton, New Jersey; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren. Several other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
