RMSGT Carl Wright, Sr., Warner Robins, Georgia, departed this life on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at St. James Christian Fellowship Church with Min. H. Charles Williams officiating. Interment was held at Jordan Station Church Cemetery.
RMSGT Wright was born on April 23, 1954 to the parentage of the late Ms. Ruby Dell Blackshear and the late Mr. Carlton Wright in Dublin, Georgia.
Carl attended City of Atlanta public schools and graduated from West Fulton High School in 1972. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA briefly before deciding to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He would later return to college and earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Medicine in March 1997 and a Masters of Business Administration in August 1999 from Wayland Baptist University. During his career in the USAF, Carl earned the Air Force Commendation Medal with two devices, the Air Force Training Ribbon, the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award with four devices, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon/Riffle, the NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with one device, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with three devices, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with six devices, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Military Outstanding Volunteers Service Medal. After over twenty three years of distinguished service, he retired from the United States Air Force on June 30, 1999. After retirement from the USAF, he moved back to Warner Robins, GA and worked in healthcare administration and education until his health began to fail in 2011.
On March 4, 1978, he married Ms. Sheila Freeman, and to this union two sons were born: Mr. Carl Wright, Jr. and Mr. Dennard Wright. On July 31, 1982, he married the former Ms. Sheree Cannida who preceded him in death. To this union a daughter was born: Ms. Carlesha Wright. He later adopted Sheree's daughter, Makesha.
RMSGT Wright leaves to cherish his memories two sons: Mr. Carl Wright, Jr., Clarkston, Georgia, Mr. Dennard (Lotunja) Wright, Stockbridge, Georgia; two daughters: Ms. Carlesha Wright, Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Makesha (Charles) White, Hampton, Georgia; sisters by marriage: Mrs. Myrtlelene (Jesse) Pearson, Wallingford, Connecticut, Mrs. Kathy (Rev. Eric) Murray, Tennille, Georgia, Ms. Carolyn Allen, Ms. Gwendolyn Allen, Newark, New Jersey, Ms. Linda Monroe, Milledgeville, Georgia, Mrs. Katherine (Rev. Jerry) Walden, Wrightsville Georgia, Mrs. Pendry (Roy) Braswell, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Annette Scott, Augusta, Georgia; brothers by marriage: Mr. William Cannida, Mr. Larry Wiley, Tennille, Georgia; five grandchildren: Quynton Wright, Charles White, Jr., Israel White, Collin Wright, Aaron White; nieces and nephews: Mrs. Nichola (Wesley) Smith, Mrs. Shenika (Rodney) Woodard, Ms. Jessica Pearson, Mrs. Rameeka (Brandon) Askew, Ms. Tierra Murray, Ms. Kerryn Murray, Mrs. Shaquanda (Meldrick) Allen-Dorson, Mrs. Rasheeda (James) Hudson, Ms. Celeste Miller, Mr. Rodney Gilmore, Mrs. Tamiko (Renford) Watts, Mrs. Chandra (Marcus) Dunn, Mr. Kelvin Monroe, Mr. Jerrell Monroe, Ms. Jerilyn Hamilton, Mr. Preston Smith, Mr. Jafari Wiley, Mr. Thaddeus Smith, Ms. Keena Scott, Mr. Kenny Scott, Mr. Kristopher Scott, Little Miss Miracle Wiley; a host of other relatives and friends, M.C.
