Mr. William Pearson
Mr. William Pearson, affectionately known as "Speed King," passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Smith Medical Nursing Care Center in Sandersville, Georgia. Memorial services were held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at M.C. Smith Funeral Home chapel with Prophetess Sandra Green officiating.
Mr. Pearson was born on September 7, 1927 in Glascock County to the parentage of the late Ms. Corine Lee and the late Rev. William Pearson.
When he was seventeen years old his mother moved to Washington County where he worked on a farm and did seasonal work. He was a civil rights activist and worked alongside the late Mr. Richard Turner, Sr. for many years. He always kept up with local news reports and was a master at understanding the government and politics.
Speed King loved listening to gospel music and the blues. He was a friend to many people both near and far. He was an orderly man who always obeyed the law and was never in trouble. He also walked everywhere that he had to go. In the sixteen years that his mother lived in the nursing home, he cared for her faithfully. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Pearson leaves to cherish his memories a niece: Prophetess Sandra (William) Green, Sandersville, Georgia; two nephews: Mr. Sam (Mary) Irwin, Mr. Michael Jackson, Sandersville, Georgia; sister: Ms. Lillie Thomson, Macon, Georgia; cousin: Mrs. Clara Jones, Milledgeville, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.
