Mr. James "Bubba" Duggan, III


Mr. James "Bubba" Duggan, III passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at St. James Christian Fellowship with Rev. Jimmy Reeves, Jr. officiating. Interment was held in Smith Grove Baptist Church cemetery.


Mr. Duggan was born on June 20, 1953 to the parentage of the late Mr. James Duggan, Jr. and Ms. Daisy Cannida.


He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for sixty (60) years and was Chairman of the Deacon Board.


He was a graduate of Washington County High School with the class of 1971.


Mr. Duggan retired from Imerys, and drove for Howard Sheppard for the last twenty-two (22) years. He was the owner and operator of Duggan Trucking and Duggan Photography Studio. He was one of the first black owners in Washington County of a Professional Photography studio. He received his Associate Degree in Photography from North Georgia Tech.


Mr. Duggan enjoyed hunting, fishing and mentoring his nieces, nephews and grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by three siblings: Ms. Katie Hooks, Ms. Minnie May Danzy, Mr. Nathaniel Harden.

Mr. Duggan leaves cherished memories to his wife: Mrs. Mary Alice Duggan, Sandersville, Georgia; seven children: Ms. Jasmine Duggan (Craig Hargrove), Mr. Renaldo Duggan (Daryus), Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Sabrina (Vincent) Grissom, Ms. Teresa Jones, Ms. Erica Gonder, Harrison, Georgia, Mrs. Veronica (Sheldon) Minor, Macon, Georgia, Ms. Vikki Irwin, Reidsville, Georgia; two sisters: Mrs. Sara (Frank) Simmons, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Willie Mae Thompson, Jacksonville, Florida; one brother: Mr. Willie (Geraldine) Harden, Jacksonville, Florida; twelve grandchildren including two devoted: Jakari Frazier, Aya Hargrove; Shakeivia Robinson, Branquavious Robinson, Sean (Sydney) Swan, Navaishia Watson, Larityouna Brown, Ivey Brown, Santonio Brown, Sheldon Minor, Jr., Venecia (Publo) Devia, Mr. Keith Reeves, Jr; devoted nieces and nephews: Ms. Sabrina Danzy, Ms. Darlene Taylor, Mr. Daren Danzy, Mrs. Rhonda (Jerold) Tillman, Ms. Cassandra Duggan; devoted friends: Mr. Richard Mathis, Mr. Willie Dixon, Mr. Charlie Barkster, Mr. George Tucker; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
