Mr. JC Martin


Mr. JC Martin passed away on Wednesday ,September 21, 2022 at East Georgia Hospital, Statesboro, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Bro. Ike Johnson officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.


Mr. Martin was born on January 12, 1944 to the parentage of the late Mr. Archie Lee Martin, Jr. and Mrs. Lena Mae Landers Martin. He was preceded in death by a brother: Mr. Willie Martin.


He retired after thirty five years from Sandersville Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). He was also a veteran of the United States Army.


Mr. Martin was married to the late Mrs. Mary Tillman Martin. This union was blessed with a beautiful daughter and a handsome son. After the death of Mrs. Mary, J.C. found love again and married Ms. Sally Russell Reaves on December 18, 1976, bringing another little girl unto their union. Then, there were three wonderful children, blending the two families together. J.C. and Sally went on to have a bouncing baby boy in 1979 and another beautiful baby girl in 1985, to complete the Martin Five.


After retirement, J.C. enjoyed fishing, gardening and growing fresh fruits and vegetables for his family. He could often be found riding his tractor to the garden.


J.C. was baptized on July 7, 2007 as a Jehovah’s Witness.


Mr. Martin leaves cherished memories to his wife of forty-five years: Mrs. Sally R. Martin, Sandersville, Georgia; children: Ms. Angela Y. Reaves, Tennille, Georgia, Mrs. Crystal (Marcus) Phillips, Mr. Victor (Joye) Martin, Hephzibah, Georgia, Mr. Calvin (Yolanda) Martin, Kennesaw, Georgia, Mrs. Tikia (Taj) Waldon, Lawrenceville, Georgia; mother: Mrs. Lena M. Martin, Sandersville, Georgia; two sisters: Ms. Dorothy Miles, Sandersville, Georgia, Mrs. Rena Mae Carter, Detroit, Michigan; thirteen precious grandchildren: Mrs. Isia (Shawn) Wilcox, Woodbridge, Virginia, Ms. Brittney Middlebrooks, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Justin Walker, Palm Springs, California, Ms. De’Andra Rachels, Tennille, Georgia, Ms. Jasmine Martin, Miami, Florida, Mr. Cam’ron Martin, Ms. Caelan Martin, Ms. DeAtra Martin, Ms. Deilicia Martin, Hephzibah, Georgia, Mr. Domineik Rowland, Mr. Collin Martin, Kennesaw, Georgia, Mr. Austin Waldon, Ms. Alena Waldon; eight great-grandchildren: Danyale Wicker, Caleb Wilcox, Karlis Rachels, Morgann Wilcox,McKar Latimer, Taylor Poole, Avery Walker, Dallas Tucker; brothers-in-law: Mr. Curtis (Mary) Tillman, Mr. Herman Russell, Mr. Donald ((Evelyn) Russell, Mr. Bobbie J. (Regina) Russell, Mr. Darron Russell; bonus granddaughter: Mrs. Starkayla (De’quan) Davis; sisters-in-law: Ms. Emma Martin, Ms. Mattie Martin Gilbert, Ms. Glenda Askew, Mrs. Lena (Bobby) Lundy, Mrs. Harriette (Gary) Butler, Ms. Barbara Russell, Ms. Karen Russell; devoted cousin: Mrs. Ella Pearl Hilson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a worldwide spiritual family.
