Mr. Louis Jones, Sr.

Mr. Louis Jones, Sr., Sandersville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Bay Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Dorothy Haynes officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery.

He was born November 5, 1947 in Washington County, Georgia where he spent all of his life.

Mr. Louis Jones, Sr., affectionately known as “Louie’” enjoyed gospel music, singing and fixing anything that needed to be repaired. Louis had a heart for service and was always in place to serve his community.

Civil rights advocate, voter rights advocate and leading the lost to Christ were just a few of his many passions.

He was an undercover genius. Louis was a medical miracle that lived to see his 76th birthday when doctors said he was not going to live to be a teenager.

At an early age, he was baptized at Bay Spring Baptist Church where he would later serve as a deacon and chairman of the Deacon Board until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. John Thomas Jones, Sr. and Mrs. Lenora Johnson Jones; brothers: Mr. John Thomas Jones, Jr., Mr. Eddie Willie Jones, Mr. James Earl Jones, Mr. Harold Jones; sisters: Mrs. Victoria Lane, Mrs. Juanita Wilson and Mrs. Barbara Watts.

Mr. Jones leaves to mourn his passing, his wife: Mrs. Betty Swint Jones; son: Mr. Louis Jones Jr. (Lateshia); sister: Mrs. Dorothy McArthur; brother: Mr. Booker T. Jones; granddaughters: Miss Jamequa Jones, Ms. Kimberlie Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. M. C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
