Mr. Robert Hicks, Jr., Davisboro, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. Graveside services were held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Shiloh C.M.E. Church with Rev. Leonard Vining officiating.
Mr. Robert Hicks, Jr. was born and raised in Bartow, Georgia to the late Mr. Robert Hicks, Sr. and the late Mrs. Alice Bell Hicks.
He attended Jones Chapel in Bartow, Georgia. He was a member of Shiloh C.M.E., where he served faithfully as a deacon. He worked as a farmer and truck driver for over forty (40) years until he retired in 2009.
Mr. Hicks was a true man of God, who devoted his life to serving and doing the Lord’s will. Fruits of the spirit: (Galatians 5:22) love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and faith was evident within him. He was a great husband, father, mentor and friend to many.
He was well respected by his family and the community as a whole. He never met a stranger and showed love and kindness to all.
Mr. Hicks was a manly man, with a sensitive side...he was one of a kind. He loved his family more than anything and enjoyed helping others. His favorite song was ‘What A Friend We Have In Jesus.’ If you knew him, you knew that he was humble, believed in doing what’s right and enjoyed praising and serving the Lord to the fullest.
He passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.
Mr. Hicks leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Mrs. Burene Hicks, Davisboro, Georgia; children: Mr. Jeremy (Nami) Hicks, Okinawa, Japan, Mrs. Patricia (David) Harris, Hephzibah, Georgia, Mr. David Brown, South Carolina, Mr. Glenn Brown, Tennille, Georgia, Ms. Carolyn Brown, Sandersville, Georgia; two sisters: Mrs. Shirley Mae Davis, Walterboro, South Carolina, Ms. Anna Bell Hicks, Wadley, Georgia; two brothers: Mr. John (Iola) Smith, Orlando, Florida, Mr. Ozzie (Edith) Hicks, Jacksonville, Florida; fourteen grandchildren; thirty two great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
