Mr. Thomas L. Canty, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Lee Canty, Sr. affectionately known as “Big T,” departed this life on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Washington County Regional Medical Center., Sandersville, Georgia.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Marque Harden officiating.

He was born on February 8, 1956 to the parentage of the late Mr. Zackie Canty, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ethel White Canty.

Mr. Canty was a 1974 graduate of Washington County High School. After graduation he entered the workforce with C.T. Harris Trucking Company, working faithfully for many years until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed riding around town and sitting on his front porch greeting everyone that passed by.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mrs. Lillie Pearl Hunter, Mrs. Lorene Washington, Mr. Willie Frank Jordan and Mr. Zackie Canty, Jr.

Mr. Canty leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of nineteen years: Mrs. Arleen Canty, Tennille, Georgia; five children: Mrs. Cencereitte (Tyrance) Jackson, Macon, Georgia, Ms. Ashley Hurst, Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Thomas Canty, Jr., Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Kamisha Washington, Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Antoinne Washington, Jonesboro, Georgia; four sisters: Mrs. Mattie (Issac) Bivens, Harrison, Georgia, Ms. Mattie O’Neal Taylor, Macon, Georgia, Ms. Ethel Pearl Porch, Norman Park, Georgia, Ms. Ruth Gordon, Tennille, Georgia; two brothers: Mr. Bobby Lee Youngblood, Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Bernard (Nancy) Gordon, Calhoun, Georgia; five sisters-in-law: Mrs. Lorraine (Henry) Outler, Mrs. Dianne (Ray) Fragher, Ms. Myristine Colbert, Mrs. Willie Mae (Robert Lee) Roberts, Ms. Ethel Canty; one brother-in-law: Mr. Tony (Marilyn) Washington; nine grandchildren: Shyheim Canty, Vernijah Canty, Harley Jackson, Jayden Thompson, Jamaiya Thompson, Macon, Georgia, Ty’tiyanan Hill, Starlexia Washington, Kemarion Washington, Jason Neal, Tennille, Georgia; devoted cousin: Mrs. Annie B.
