Mr. Tony "Yogi" Gilbert
Mr. Tony Gilbert, affectionately known as "Yogi" departed this life on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in Augusta, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. at New Birth Christian Ministries with Rev. Gary Clayton, officiating.
He was born in Washington County, Georgia on October 13, 1966 to the parentage of the late Mr. Ellis Harris and the late Ms. Elouise Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert attended the public schools of Washington County and was a 1984 graduate of Washington County High School. He furthered his education at Sandersville Technical College where he obtained a Transportation Operator Certificate.
He was a grill master, avid sports fan, jokester and a mentor. He was happiest when he was outdoors.
In 2004 he met the love of his life, whom he married on October 14, 2006. This union was blessed with two daughters. Tony was a devoted husband, a loving father, son, brother and nephew. He loved his family and they were a great source of pride for him.
His desire to provide for his family led him to work as a heavy equipment operator for over thirty years. He was currently employed with Veterans Carrier of Savannah, Georgia.
Mr. Gilbert leaves cherished memories to his beloved wife: Mrs. Symyra Gilbert of Augusta, Georgia; children: Ms. Taylor Carter, Miss Riley Gilbert, Ms. Toni Jimperson of Augusta, Georgia; brothers: Mr. Lional Harris of Dublin Georgia, Mr. Alvin (Peggy) Gilbert, Mr. Thomas (Janice) Gilbert of Sandersville, Georgia; sisters: Ms. Tonessa Curry, Ms. Lynelle “Jan” Gilbert, Ms. Shavondre Harris of Augusta, Georgia, Ms. Janise Harris of Sandersville, Georgia, Mrs. Mary (Antonio) Tyson of Port Wentworth, Georgia, Mrs. Cynthia (Willie) Ware of Hephzibah, Georgia, Mrs. Belinda (Anthony) Watkins of Fredericksburg, Virginia; uncle: Mr. Stevie Gilbert of Augusta, Georgia; aunts: Ms. Ceola G. Jackson, Mrs. Dorothy Ramsey, Ms. Rosa Stanley of Augusta, Georgia; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Shirley (George) McNair, Ms. Stephanie Trumpler, Mrs. Christina (D’Anthony) Walker of Augusta, Georgia; fur babies: Diesel Gilbert, Dakota Gilbert; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
