Mr. Walter Cheely
Mr. Walter Cheely, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 5, 2021 on the lawn of Springfield Baptist Church at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Calvin Hatcher officiating. Interment was held at Sandy Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Mitchell, Georgia.
On October 24, 1975 at Talmadge Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, Walter was born to the parentage of the late Mr. William Cheely, Sr. and Mrs. Ida Cheely.
Walter was a member of St. James Christian Fellowship Church. He was a graduate of Washington County High School with the class of 1995. Later he attended Sandersville Technical College where he earned his CNA certification. He worked at Kudzo Grill as a cook, Central Care Group Homes, RHA, Oconee Center, Central State Hospital in the Cooke Building and lastly he had a career change and began working at Legacy Homes of Eatonton.
He was the comedian of the family, always making others laugh. He was always inspiring and encouraging everyone he came in contact with whether they were having a good day or a bad day. He looked passed a persons flaws and saw the good in them.
Walter enjoyed going to church when he could, listening to music, playing cards, shooting pool, hanging with the King Street Crew, talking about those Georgia Bulldogs and mostly spending time with his family and friends.
His demeanor was that of love, compassion, happiness and strength. He always spent as much time as he could with his son and goddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. Ellis Hatcher, Mr. Willie Albert Cheely, Mrs. Winnie Lou Cheely and several aunts and uncles.
Mr. Cheely leaves cherished memories to his son, Mr. Jarrel Fields; mother: Mrs. Ida Cheely Gindraw; siblings: Mrs. Sheryl (Arthur) Folsom, Evangelist Beverly (Elder Robert) Hawkins, Mr. William (Shanla) Cheely, Jr.; grandmother: Mrs. Dorothy Ruth Hatcher; god-brother: Mr. Itego (Tasha) Tanner; god-daughters: Ms. Rajanae Booze, Ms. Juzie Booze; devoted friends: Mr. Jarvis Hooks, Mr. Willie Smith, Ms. Sabrina Dixon, Ms. Tokashema Griner; nine aunts; five uncles; six nephews; five nieces; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
