“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend peacefully entered into eternal rest at Washington County Regional Medical Center.

She was born Miss Addie Lee Mitchell on July 19, 1930 to the parentage of the late Mrs. Marie Evans Mitchell and the late Mr. Clarence Mitchell.

Mrs. Washington attended the public schools in Washington County. At an early age, Addie joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, Sandersville, Georgia, where she attended until her health began to fail. She was employed for years at Villa South (Laundry Department) and Washington County Oconee Center (Kitchen Supervisor).

Mrs. Addie and Mr. Aaron “Doc” Washington were united in holy matrimony and were blessed with ten children.

Our mom was affectionately known throughout the Tybee Community by various nicknames from “Drip,” “Tea Baby” to “Ad Lee.”

On sunny days, Addie could be seen sitting on her front porch often surrounded by family and friends, where the sound of laughter could be heard by anyone passing by. One thing about Addie Lee was that she didn’t mind telling you how she felt about things. She will be dearly missed by the Tybee Community.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. Aaron Washington, two daughters: Ms. Linda James, Ms. Mattie Washington; two sons: Mr. MacArthur James and Mr. Earnest Washington.

Mrs. Washington leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children: Ms. Ruth Washington, Del Ray, Florida, Mr. Richard (Janis) Washington, Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Carolyn Washington, Mr. Freddy Washington, Ms. Debbie Washington, Mr. Marvin Washington, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Gary (Gail) Washington, Milledgeville, Georgia: sisters: Mrs. Alma Jean Lane, Mrs. Betty (Terry) Miller, Sandersville, Georgia; devoted cousins and friends: Ms. Gladys Daniels, Ms. Debra Jones, Mr. Julius Warthen, Ms. Rochelle Washington; thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
