Mrs. Alma Jean James
Mrs. Alma Jean James, 64, departed this life on Monday morning, December 28, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital, Augusta, Georgia after a brief illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Rose Johnson Mackey officiating.
She was born on August 24, 1956, the second oldest of six children, to the parentage of Mr. James Rogers Watts and the late Ms. Amanda Mae Roberson.
After graduating from Washington County High School with the class of 1975, she attended Job Corps. She also attended Mary Bridges Beauty School. Alma also obtained her CDL certification and was employed with the Washington County Board of Education as a bus driver for several years along with other employment ventures.
She will be remembered as a giving, loving and family oriented person who loved to sing in the choir, work on the missionary board and attend gospel singings. She would also go above and beyond to help others in need.
Mrs. James leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of forty two (42) years: Mr. Robert L. James, Sandersville, Georgia; two step-children: Mrs. Sharon (Clifford) Coleman, Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Tyrone (Valerie) James, Milledgeville, Georgia; father: Mr. James Rogers Watts; three sisters: Ms. Virginia Bell, Ms. Elizabeth White, Ms. Arnita Wiley, Sandersville, Georgia; four brothers: Mr. Victor Earl James, Mr. David (Emily) James, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Terry Watts, Mr. Torey Watts, New Jersey; one aunt: Ms. Ester Brookins; one uncle: Mr. Rawling (Bernice) Roberson; seven grandchildren: Jeremy James, Joshua James, Vatyra James, Aniqua Pauldo, Jordan Johnson, Porsha Stephens, C. J. Coleman; two sisters-in-law: Ms. Ellerie Blount, Ms. Willie Mae Reynolds; one brother-in-law: Mr. James Calvin Hart; four goddaughters: Ms. Vontressa Salter, Ms. Quaneatrias Salter, Ms. Diamond Salter, Ms. Jamieya Lee; four devoted friends: Ms. Jan Ray, Ms. Sylvia Walker, Ms. Sarah Dixon, Ms. Gwen Stephens; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
