Mrs. Bettye Miller




Mrs. Bettye Ree Walker Miller, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, relative and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the age of seventy-four (74) at Washington County Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Walden officiating. Interment was held at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.



She was born on August 22, 1950, in Sandersville, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mrs. Dicie and Mr. John Walker.


Mrs. Miller graduated from Thomas Jefferson Elder High School with the class of 1968, marking the beginning of a life dedicated to service and care. After completing her education, Bettye moved to New York City, where she began her career with Home Health Care. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on the lives of many she served during her time there.


In pursuit of a new chapter, Bettye relocated back to Georgia, where she took on the role of head cook in Stone Mountain and at the Twin City Country Club in Tennille until her retirement. Her culinary talents and warm personality made her a cherished member of the community, and her delicious meals brought joy to countless members and guests.


Bettye was known for her kindness, generosity and infectious laughter. She loved spending time with her family and cooking for loved ones. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.


She was preceded in death by her siblings: Mr. John Walker, Jr., Mrs. Dicie Walker Williams, Mr. Callaway Walker, Ms. Addie Washington, Mrs. Alma Jean Lane. 


Mrs. Miller leaves cherished memories to her husband: Mr. Terry Miller, Sr., Sandersville, Georgia; son: Mr. Gary McCord, Brooklyn, New York; daughter: Mrs. Falicia (Demeckers) Williams-Tallington, Roselle Park, New Jersey; stepson: Mr. Terry Miller, Jr.; grandson: Mr. Jaiden Picot-McCord, Portsmouth, Virginia; brother: Mr. Clarence (Elizabeth) Watts, Sandersville, Georgia; sister-in-law: Ms. Janice Miller, Warner Robins, Georgia; brother-in-law: Mr. Gary Bernard Miller, Jacksonville, Florida; devoted nephews and nieces: Mr. Renfred (Tamiko) Watts, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. John Walker (Roxanne), Virginia Beach, Virginia; other devoted family: Mr. Oscar Williams, Ms. Tameya Williams, Mrs. Patricia (Frampton) Mathis, Mrs. Pamela Daniels Walker, Ms. Linda Brunson, Ms. Lillian Walker, Mr. Clarence Dexter Watts, Ms. Alicia Williams and child, Ms. Jekeira Jones and children, Mr. Daishawn Ryan and children, Mr. John Rice and children, Mr. Henry Watts, Mr. Fred Watts, Mr. Aiden Watts, Mr. Lance Watts, Mr. Russell Watts, Ms. Gloria Moore, Ms. Mary Hook, Ms. Ruth Ann Hook, Ms. Diane Hook, Ms. Eloise Hook, Ms. Phyllis Smith, Mr. Melvin Smith, Walker and Watts families; devoted friends: Ms. Karen Spivey, Ms. Cecillia Dynetta Jenkins, Mrs. Bessie Seals, Mr. Frank Simmons, Ms. Joyce Lewis; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
