Mrs. Essie Bloodsaw
Mrs. Essie Haynes Bloodsaw departed this life on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her residence.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Tennille Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Walden officiating. Interment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Bloodsaw was born on May 12, 1937 in Tennille, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Med Haynes Sr. and the late Mrs. Essie Mae Haynes.
Essie was an honor graduate from T.J Elder High School with the class of 1955. After high school, she moved to New York City. While there she married her high school sweetheart, the late Mr. T. L. Bloodsaw. This union was blessed with one son, Mr. Jeffery Bloodsaw.
For many years she was employed with the New York City Public School System as a Librarian.
In 1980, she moved back to Sandersville where she returned to her church roots at Tennille Grove Baptist Church. There she served faithfully as President of the Missionary Department, Usher Board, Gospel Choir and Trustee Board. She was active as Past President with the Elderite Association and the Lincoln Douglas League.
She was employed with Otasco, Goody’s, Farmers Furniture, Pilgram Life Insurance Company, Department of Corrections as a Librarian, Washington County Headstart, Washington County Board of Education and on the Washington County Tax Equalization Board. She was very active with the Washington County Senior Center until her health failed.
Essie was a loving woman that left a legacy of kindness, compassion and a willingness to help people whenever she could. She loved her family, her community and life. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Mrs. Sadie Bridges and Mr. Med Haynes, Jr.
Mrs. Bloodsaw leaves cherished memories to her son: Mr. Jeffery Bloodsaw, Sandersville, Georgia; sister: Mrs. Glenda (Larry) Colbert, Athens, Georgia; brother: Mr. Charles (Arnita) Haynes, Columbia, South Carolina, devoted cousins: Ms. Sallie Darrisaw, Mr. John Pleas, Jr.; devoted friend: Ms. Janise Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
