Mrs. Eugenia Cummings

Mrs. Eugenia Cummings, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home, Sandersville, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at Middle Hill Baptist Church, Warthen, Georgia with Rev. Carl Williams officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Eugenia Veal Cummings, who was born on April 15, 1935 in Warthen, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. James Thomas Veal and the late Mrs. Sallie Louise Veal, transitioned home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Sandersville, Georgia.

She graduated in 1954 from the public schools of Washington County.

At an early age, Eugenia worked as a caretaker at Lang’s Funeral Home. In 1971, she became employed at William Carter’s Company as a seamstress for forty plus years. Later she devoted her time as a caregiver to close family and friends.

Eugenia accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and joined Middle Hill Baptist Church where she remained a faithful and dedicated member for the duration of her life.

Moreover, she found happiness and simple pleasures in spending time with loved ones, going to church, sewing, puzzling, gardening and working in her yard. Eugenia was a virtuous woman, supportive wife, nurturing mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was also a loving daughter, aunt, sister, cousin and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. Tommie Lee Cummings, Sr.; son: Mr. Raymond Cummings, Sr.; daughter-in-law: Mrs. Margaret Cummings; grandson: Mr. Adrian Cummings; siblings: Mr. George A. Veal, Mr. Jonas Harry Veal, Mrs. Emma Mae Hall, Mrs. Mable Copeland and Mrs. Thelma Ford.

Mrs. Cummings leaves cherished memories to her two sons: Mr. Tommy Lee (Annette) Cummings, Jr., Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Grayling (Beverly) Cummings, Warthen, Georgia; siblings: Mr. Robert (Winston) Veal, Palmetto, Georgia, Ms. Martha Scott, Warthen, Georgia, Mrs. Blanche Ford, Detroit, Michigan; six grandchildren: Ms. Tamara Cummings, Mr. Raymond Cummings, Jr., Ms. Michelle Cummings, Mrs. Patrice (Antonio) Johnson, Ms. Endia Johnson, Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Grayling Cummings, Jr., Warthen, Georgia; seven great grandchildren: Ms. Aveona Cummings, Mr. Grayling Lewis, Ms. Takayla Hall, Ms. Taliyah Hall, Mr. Grayling Cummings, III, Mr. Ricky Stephens, Mr. Cam’ron Cummings; three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, countless other relatives and friends.
