Mrs. Mary Helen Ford




Mrs. Mary Helen Ford, 417 Evans Street, Sandersville, Georgia departed this life on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at New Tennille/ St. James A.M.E. Church with Rev. Pamela Hobbs officiating. Interment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery.


Mrs. Ford was born November 13, 1939 to the parentage of the late Mr. Ralph Taylor, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ruby Prosser Taylor.


Mrs. Ford joined St. James A.M.E. Church, now New Tennille A.M.E. Church/St. James at an early age. She was a very active and faithful member of the usher board until her health failed.


Mrs. Ford retired from William Carter Company after many years of service.


She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and she was Mrs. Mary Helen to many in the Evans Street area.


She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Julian Ford with whom she shared fifty-six years; grandmother:

Mrs. Sophia Parker Prosser; mother-in-law: Mrs. Lela W. Williams and brother: Mr. Henry L. Taylor.

Mrs. Ford leaves cherished memories to her devoted children: Mr. Derek (Shirley) Ford, Ms. Cynthia Ford, Sandersville, Georgia; grandchildren: Ms. Colonte’ Swint, Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Jahbari Swint, Riverdale, Georgia; great grandchildren: Ms. Shania Swint, Ms. Cherish Swint, Ms. Jordyn Lemon, Tennille, Georgia; loving sister: Ms. Mary Ann Taylor, Riverdale, Georgia; brothers: Mr. Ralph (Myrtice) Taylor, Jr., Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Robert (Shirlene) Taylor, Conyers, Georgia, Mr. Philip Taylor, Mr. Ralph (Eleanor) Taylor, Mr. Clint Taylor, Savannah, Georgia; god-grandson: Mr. Kelvin Johnson; devoted friends: Mrs. Cora Lee Harris, Mrs. Rosa Murphy, her Evans Street family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. M. C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
