Mrs. Mary Helen Peeler
Mrs. Mary Helen Peeler passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Smith Medical Nursing Care Center. Graveside services were held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Benjamin Martin officiating.
She was born on November 9, 1927 to the parentage of the late Mr. Hardwick McBride and the late Mrs. Lillar Jackson McBride.
At an early age she joined Union Hill Baptist Church and served until her health declined. She was the Mother of the church.
After completing high school in Washington County, she attended and graduated from Fort Valley State College with a Bachelors Degree. Her career started in 1946 at Burnette Grove Baptist Church as an educator; continued in Davisboro, Georgia; and retired from D.D. Crawford in Tennille, Georgia.
She was married to the late Mr. Rogers Peeler, and they were blessed with two beautiful children: Gary and Tangela.
Mrs. Peeler was an entrepreneur and a devoted Christian during her lifetime. While working in the church, she served on many boards at Union Hill and she always enjoyed helping any way that she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. Rogers Peeler; two sisters: Mrs. Velma Biggins, Ms. Ruth Lee Hodges and one brother: Mr. Willie James McBride, Sr.
Mrs. Peeler leaves cherished memories to her children: Ms. Tangela Peeler, Milledgeville, Georgia, Mr. Gary Peeler, Chamblee, Georgia; sister-in-law: Mrs. Dovie Peeler Williams, St. Paul, Minnesota; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. M. C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
