Ms. Rosella Adams


Ms. Rosella Adams, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Washington County ECF. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Holly Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Brawner officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.


Ms. Adams was born on July 3, 1931 to the parentage of the late Mr. Emanuel Adams and the late Ms. Rosella Bowman.


She graduated from Thomas Jefferson Elder High School in 1952. She played on the basketball team.


Rosella was employed by Washington County Board of Education as a Bus Driver and a Cafeteria Worker for twenty five years. She worked as a caregiver in the community and for her family members. She also worked in the Beauty Shop owned by one of the sisters. She transported the basketball, football, and track team after practice.


At an early age, she joined Holly Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a bus driver for Summer Vacation Bible School for several years. She served as Treasurer of the Usher Board at Jordan Grove Baptist Church in her neighborhood for many years.


Rosella was known for her famous sweet potato pies and salmon patties. She would stay up all night to make sure everyone had a pie. Peach cobbler was her favorite dessert. She enjoyed serving in the community. She was humble, with a soft spoken voice and friendly smile. Sis. Adams provided her house for shelter for years to some friends and family. She loved keeping her grandchildren. She would often say, “If you are not going to put love into whatever you do, don’t do it” and “You can’t beat God’s giving no matter how hard you try.”


She was preceded in death by her brothers: Mr. Emanuel Adams, Jr., Mr. Arthur C. Adams, Mr. Frank Bowman, Mr. Jimmie Adams, Mr. Lee Willis Adams, Mr. Cleo Anderson; sisters: Ms. Mamie Smith, Ms. Willie Mae Valdez, Ms. Addie Mae Smith, Ms. Bertha Mae Daniels, Ms. Carrey Walker, Ms. Fleda Stapleton, Ms. Addie Johnson, Ms. Susie M. Middleton, Ms. Ruth Middleton; special aunt: Ms. Macedonia Middleton and her grandmother: Ms. Susie Middleton. She is the last of her siblings.


Ms. Adams is survived by six children: Mr. Paul J. (Lillie) Middleton, Sr., Irvington, New Jersey, Mrs. Patricia M. (Charles) Anderson, Savannah, Georgia, Mr. Calvin E. (Minister Loretta) Middleton, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Oliver D. Middleton, Mr. Dennis E. (Eillen) Smith, Savannah, Georgia, Ms. Kierra R. Middleton, Atlanta, Georgia; one brother-in-law: Mr. Cleveland Smith, Sr., Detroit, Michigan; three sisters-in-law: Mrs. Mary Jones, Union City, Georgia, Mrs. Betty Adams, Newark, New Jersey, Mrs. Eloise S. Adams, Wilson, North Carolina; devoted nieces and nephews: Ms. Eloise S. Young, Elizabeth, New Jersey, Ms. Latisha Adams, Mr. Ronnie S. Middleton, Savannah, Georgia, Ms. Susie Cochran, Davisboro, Georgia, Ms. Wendy Westbrook, Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Tony Smith, Houston, Texas, Mr. Gearld Adams, Mr. Travis Adams, Mr. Eldern Jones, Jr., Union City, Georgia, Ms. Annie L. Walker, Mr. William Walker, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Joe Walker, Harrison, Georgia, Ms. Rosa Walker, Ms. Massie L. Walker, Lithonia, Georgia, Ms. Gloria Walker, Conyers, Georgia; devoted friends: Mrs. Louise Yorker, Ms. Mattie L.
