Mrs. Sallie Bridges
Mrs. Sallie Bridges, Deepstep, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Fairview Park Hospital, Dublin, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Bobby Warren officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery.
She was born on April 11, 1941 to the parentage of the late Mr. Tommie Harden and the late Mrs. Ora Mae Harden in Washington County, Georgia.
Sallie was the oldest of eight children and the loving mother of seven of her own with the late Mr. Geneva Bridges.
Mrs. Bridges, affectionately known as “Cruise,” was a faithful member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
She loved family, fishing, cooking, cracking jokes, chewing tobacco, singing in the choir, playing the lottery and just talking with people.
Mrs. Bridges worked in food service as a cook at GMC and the Department of Juvenile Justice until she retired in 2003 from YDC in Milledgeville, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by one daughter: Mrs. Shirley Andrews; two sons: Mr. Eugene Bridges, Mr. Edward Bridges; one sister: Mrs. Carolyn Odum and two brothers: Mr. Raymond Harden and Mr. Bobby Harden.
Mrs. Bridges leaves cherished memories to her four children: Ms. Cynthia Fay Bridges, Mr. Matthew Bridges, Sr., Mr. Vernon Lamar (Janet) Bridges of Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Clinton (Sarah) Bridges of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters: Mrs. Christine Hall, Ms. Priscilla Harden of Milledgeville, Georgia, Mrs. Claudia Moore of Sandersville, Georgia; one brother: Mr. Charles Harden, Sr. of Sandersville, Georgia; devoted granddaughters: Mrs. Taquana Comer, Ms. Miracle Bridges; devoted great granddaughter: Miss Lundynn Comer; devoted cousin: Mrs. Betty Poole; devoted friends: Mrs. Gladys Stephens, Mrs. Edith Boyer, Mrs. Inell Neal, Mrs. Barbara Hall, Mrs. Elizabeth Roberson, Mr. Ricky (Vivian) Patterson, Mrs. Ruby Clark, the Keg Creek Community; sixteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
