Her Life
Ms. Bernistine “Bunt” Wilson was born in Tennille, Georgia on September 24, 1947. She was the fourth of five children born to the late Mrs. Curtis Lee Wilson and Mr. Otis Wilson, Sr.
She attended the public schools of Washington County.
Her Love For The Lord
As a member of New Birth Christian Ministries under the leadership of her son Senior Pastor Patrick Wilson, Sr., she accepted the Lord and was a dedicated member of the Golden Girls Ministry.
Her Love For Family
Ms. Bernistine “Bunt” Wilson loved her family. She made so many sacrifices for her seven (7) children and they did not go unnoticed. She was the peacemaker. Bunt was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking big family meals for Sunday dinner. Every other weekend she would be ready for her shopping trips and Friday Night Outings. She loved dancing and having a great time. She was known for keeping a clean house and a special talent for sweeping (lol).
Her Love For Sports
Bernistine was an avid basketball and baseball lover. She loved the Tennessee Volunteers and the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball teams. She also loved the Atlanta Braves. Throughout the years, she cheered on her children and grandchildren as they played for the Washington County Golden Hawks.
Her Love For Her Career
For many years Ms. Bernistine worked as a factory worker for Royal Manufacturing, which later became Duckhead. She was a dedicated worker and rarely missed a day of work. She made many lifelong friends while working at Royal Manufacturing/Duckhead. Mrs. Louise Bridges, Mrs. Mamie Kate Cordy Ross and Mrs. Joann Merrell, made sure Ms. Bernistine had transportation to and from work. In July 1997, she opened “Bunt’s Daycare” where she cared for hundreds of children both before and after school. The kids parents loved Bunt because the kids were well taken care of and received a home cooked meal every day.
