“For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” Psalm 48:14

Ms. Debbie Elaine Washington, affectionately known as Slim, Debra, Elaine and Ma by her family and friends, departed this life on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Washington County Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Washington was born on January 13, 1962 to the parentage of the late Mr. Aaron Washington and Mrs. Addie Lee Washington.

Debbie was a mother, a beloved sister and a loyal friend. She was a woman of God with a heart of pure gold that carried a smile that could turn the saddest days into something you could laugh at.

As an avid planter, Debbie would be seen tending to her garden with the same positive energy she showed to everyone she knew. She enjoyed baking, hosting family events and playing her music while singing with all her might.

Debbie was also a woman with a sense of duty. She took it upon herself to care for her mother, aunt and sister while also going through trials of her own.

When asked if she would ever leave Sandersville, she’d reply with a “No, someone’s got to be here with them.”

Debbie had a strong “Do it yourself attitude” which shows around her home with many renovation projects. She was the person that was slow on asking for help but quick to help others at a moments notice.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: Mr. Mac Arthur James, Ms. Linda James, Ms. Mattie Washington and Mr. Earnest Washington.

Ms. Washington leaves cherished memories to her son: Mr. Rosby (Tatyanna) Washington: sisters: Ms. Carolyn Washington, Ms. Ruth Washington, Ms. Rochelle Washington; brothers: Mr. Richard (Janis) Washington, Mr. Gary Washington, Mr. Marvin Washington, Mr. Freddy Washington; aunts: Ms. Alma Jean Lane, Mrs. Betty (Terry) Miller; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. M. C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
