Ms. Dorothy J. Jackson
Ms. Dorothy J. Jackson, Sandersville, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024 at AH Navicent Medical Center, Macon, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Limestone Community Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ron Jackson officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery.
The Angels of Glory came on Friday afternoon, November 29, 2024 to Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center, Macon, Georgia, and sealed the lips of our dear loved one, Ms. Dorothy James Jackson to a serene place of joy and eternal rest in the presence of the Lord.
She was born on January 14, 1945 in Washington County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Mr. James Jackson and the late Mrs. Gladys “Sweet” Walker Jackson.
Ms. Jackson attended the Thomas Jefferson Elder High School of Sandersville, Georgia and received her GED in her later years. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Georgia.
At an early age, she joined Limestone African Methodist Episcopal Church in Sandersville, Georgia. She served faithfully under the new name, Limestone Community Church, holding the titles Mother of the Church, President of the Usher Board, President of the Missionary Department and Chairperson of the Food Committee until her health failed.
For many years, Ms. Jackson worked in the clothing manufacturing business at Carters, Royal and Studdard. She was employed with Andy and Beverly Webb of Sandersville, Georgia and retired as a Health Service Technician from Central State Hospital, Milledgeville, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her daughter: Baby Cynthia Diane Jackson; granddaughter: Baby Shanetta Leshay Williams; brother: Mr. Harold Eugene Jackson and two sisters: Baby M’less Jackson and Mrs. Janice Jackson Fort.
Ms. Jackson leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters: Ms. Marshay Jackson Williams (Randolph), Tennille, Georgia, Ms. Nicole Lavette Jackson (Lewis), Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Tamara Jackson (Terrell), Fairburn, Georgia; one granddaughter: Ms. I’yanna M. Watson, Kennesaw, Georgia; one grandson: Mr. Lewis Kitchens, Jr., Sandersville, Georgia; two brothers: Mr. Charlie Jackson, Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Michael Jackson, Gastonia, North Carolina; three sisters: Mrs. Sharon (Henry) Braddock, Minister Vanessa Jackson, Mrs. Barbara (Alfred) Reeves, Sandersville, Georgia; devoted cousins: Mrs. Vernell Salter, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Mickey Waples, Delaware; devoted friends: Ms. Jeannette C. Peacock, Ms. Lillian Hagans; devoted great granddog: Cooki; devoted bonus family: the Webbs (Andy, Beverly, Zachary and Sara); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. M.C.
